The different transformations can be considered separately. If there is, for instance, a translation in the x-axis and a dilation in the y-axis, one can first do y = f(x+c) (translation) and then y = af(x) (dilation) to give y = af(x+c). Conversely, you can first perform the dilation and then the translation.
