The graph would be a polynomial. The graph would extend down the negative y-axis in the third quadrant and up the positive y-axis in the first quadrant. Increasing k has the effect of squeezing the graph horizontally. Increasing n has the effect of making the edges of the graph sharper as it moves along the x-axis from the 3rd quadrant to the 1st. An example below:
