Mutually exclusive events.
I'm a PhD Psychology student with online tuition experience.
It is called Mutually Exclusive Events. A good way to remember this is to think of two events that are happening at the same time and you can only attend one or the other as its not possible to be in two places at once.

Mutually exclusive events
In terms of statistical terms, when two events cannot happen simultaneously when one event supersedes the other, are called Mutually Exclusive events.
Such events are called "mutually exclusive".
Two events that cannot happen at the same time are called mutually exclusive.
Example - rolling a six sided dice
Let event A be that the dice lands on an odd number (1, 3, or 5).
Let event B be that the dice lands on an even number (2, 4, or 6).
Then we can say that A and B are mutually exclusive events because it is not possible for a dice to land on two numbers at once therefore the dice either lands on an odd number or an even number.
