Yes, they are different, although our method remains the same!
The range of numbers is finding the difference between the greatest and smallest number. Interquartile range (IQR) is the difference between the lower quartile (1/4 of the data) and the upper quartile (3/4 of the data).
Finding the IQR shows us the difference of majority of the data, rather than the extremes!
Remember - median = 50%, LQ = 25% and UQ = 75% of the data.
The interquartile range is the range between the 75 and 25th percentile. Its a measure of how closely related most of the data is/

The interquartile range is the difference in value between the upper quartile and lower quartile. The upper quartile is the median of the upper half of a data set. the lower quartile is the median of the lower half of the data.

Remember that normal range uses all anomalous/extreme values of data!

Yes, the range is the difference between the highest data value and the lowest data value, whereas the interquartile range is the difference between the upper quartile value and the lower quartile value.

The interquartile range is the upper quartile takeaway the lower quartile, whereas a range is the highest number takeaway the smallest number.

Click here to view my profile and arrange a free introduction.Yes it is! While both are measures of spread, range is more sensitive to outliers whereas interquartile range (IQR) is more accurate. The range is the greatest value minus the smallest value, while the interquartile range is the difference between the upper quartile (UQ) minus the lower quartile (LQ).
Range gives you the spread of the whole set of data, i.e. from the highest to the lowest value. Interquartile range gives you the spread of the middle half of the data, i.e. from 75% to 25%.
