The switch from agricultural practices to industrial practices is often associated with the Industrial Revolution, which began in the late 18th century and continued into the 19th century. The Industrial Revolution was a period of significant economic, technological, and social change, during which there was a transition from primarily agrarian and handcraft-based economies to industrial and manufacturing-based economies.
Key developments of the Industrial Revolution included the mechanization of production processes, the widespread use of steam engines and other machinery, the growth of factory-based production, and the expansion of transportation networks such as railroads. These changes led to increased productivity, urbanization, and the emergence of a wage labor system, as well as significant shifts in the social and economic structure of societies.
The Industrial Revolution had a profound impact on many aspects of life, including agriculture, manufacturing, transportation, and the overall organization of economies. It marked a fundamental shift in the way goods were produced and societies were organized, and it laid the groundwork for the modern industrialized world.

The era that marked the switch from agricultural practices to industrial practices was known as the 'Industrial Revolution'. This shift started in Britain during the early 18th Century (roughly 1760s) and lasted for a century. During this period there was a rapid and massive change in technology and economy. Socially, the rural-to-urban shift started narratives on urbanisation (spatial shift).
All in all, this shift laid the groundwork for modern industry and fundamentally transformed social and economic structures.

Great question! The era that marked the big switch from farming to factory work was the Industrial Revolution. It started around 1760 in Britain and changed the way people lived and worked. Instead of making things by hand, machines took over, and factories became the new way to produce goods. This led to big cities growing as people left farms to work in industries. It was a huge turning point in history!

The Industrial Revolution saw the switch from agriculture to industrial practices. With the introduction of heavy machinery in factories also came the steam train. This allowed more people to travel across the country. So while we see a lot of literature, for example Charles Dickens, that explored and highlighted tough working conditions and poverty, we also see a rise in travel writing
