Divide 1 by 4, and you get 0.25. Now, you multiply 5 by 0.25, and you get 1.25.

First you need to identify what 1/4 is. The way to start this is first diving 1 by 4 for what you get is 0.25. Then, you multiply 0.25 with 5 and the answer you then get is 1.25.

hey Maximillia,

You should always attempt to visualise it. 4 quarters make 1 whole and then you add another quarter giving you 1.25.

Hello, my name is Louise and I aim to make learning fun!

5 times 1/4 =1.25

  1. Think of a round pizza
  2. Cut pizza into 4 quarters (4/4)
  3. We need 1 more quarter to equal 5 times.

4 quarters of the pizza is 1 (whole) + 1 quarter = 1 1/4

Half of 5 = 2.5

Half of 2.5 = 1.25

If you half something and then half it again, it is the same as a quarter (think of our pizza)

5 times 1/4 =1.25

5 divided by 1/4 =0.25

0.25 x 5 =1.25
